Review: The Seven Archetypal Stones

Nicholas Pearson has definitely caught my attention with his latest book The Seven Archetypal Stones: Their Spiritual Powers and Teachings. Let’s be honest, there are hundreds of books on crystals and minerals. What makes this book unique? Nicholas has chosen seven stones for this book that have an archetypal energy relevant to a path of inner spiritual progression. The progression is an alchemical journey beginning with initiation and shadow work leading eventually to the clarity and strength of divine love. The seven stones he has chosen for this alchemical journey are obsidian, jade, lapis lazuli, emerald, amethyst, quartz and diamond.

Nicholas approaches stones from various facets diving into not only the geology, history, mythology, lore and spiritual uses – but what makes this book particularly refreshing is Nicholas’ respect and reverence for the stones as spirits in themselves instead of merely using them as props or tools to achieve something. Not only is his passion, immense research and unique insights about these stones apparent in this book but also his authentic spiritual connection to the stones themselves. This is a connection that he helps the reader have throughout the book with tons of exercises and meditations to attune to the gifts each of these stones shares with humanity.

Published by Destiny Books, this 312 page book is fantastic for anyone who wants to broaden and deepen their relationship with stones regardless of their level of experience working with them. He explains enough for someone who has never worked with stones to feel comfortable with the material in the book. This isn’t to say it’s merely a beginner’s book though, even the most advanced crystal practitioner and expert can gain new insights from this book, which is obvious as the book has received praise and endorsements from highly respected crystal experts and spiritual teachers such as Judy Hall, Katrina Raphaell, Marilyn Twintreess and Christopher Penczak.
