Review: Communing with the Ancestors

One of the most beautiful things about Raven Grimassi as a teacher and an author is the depth that he brings forward to share with the pagan and witchcraft communities. His contributions as a much loved and respected elder through his writings are unlike anyone else. Often presenting research on ancient concepts, myths, lore and practices he also breathes new life into them with his wisdom, experience and innovation. His latest book Communing with the Ancestors: Your Spirit Guides, Bloodline Allies, and the Cycle of Reincarnation is absolutely no exception.

Paganism and Witchcraft have an ancient tradition of ancestor veneration that probably goes as far back as humankind does. Raven sheds light on these ancient beliefs and practices and provides many rituals, prayers and calls to your ancestors so that you can connect with the spirits of your personal lineage. By doing so you tap into your inherent power to receive guidance and find healing for both yourself and for them. The book also teaches you how to build your own shrine or altar to your ancestors and the benefits of having and working with one.

As he guides us through the progression of the soul from birth, death, rebirth and every stage in-between, a lot of the harder questions one may have around these concepts are answered with fascinating insight. He explores the link between DNA, ancient serpent wisdom, the underworld and psychopomps while helping us tap into the Living River of Blood that flows through our bodies, the same blood that once did in our ancestors. This is the best book on the subject of ancestors that I’ve ever read and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in these subjects.
